Parks and Playgrounds in Forrestdale

Get out and about in Mahala, Forrestdale with plenty of parks, sports grounds and play areas to explore right in and nearby the estate.  Whether you’re looking for a place to take the kids or a quiet walking trial, there’s plenty of spaces to discover.

Mahala's first park is now open and includes a nature playground, wide footpaths that loop around the estate and features native vegetation and shaded spaces overlooking the children's play area.

There are many other great recreation places nearby too.

Boudicca Park

Boudicca Park is Mahala's first park and is now open and includes a nature playground, wide footpaths that loop around the estate and features native vegetation and shaded spaces overlooking the children's play area.

Located in the heart of the estate on Boudicca Drive, the park is easy to walk to from any part of the estate.

Forrestdale Lake Nature Reserve

There are more than 20,000 water birds in this 220-hectare nature reserve. The area is a major breeding, migration stop-over and refuge area for waterbirds including black swans, many species of ducks and other waterfowl.

The reserve’s lake begins to fill in winter but by summer is often dry.  Yet, the reserve is still recognised as one of the most important conservation areas in southwestern Australia and remains a place of great beauty.  There are also some very good walking trails here.

The Forrestdale Lake Nature Reserve is near Commercial Road, Forrestdale.

Jandakot Regional Park

The Jandakot Regional Park offers local families a wide range of beautiful landscapes, including banksia woodlands, wetlands and rural open space.

The park covers almost 3000 hectares and has many diverse native plants and animals.  The area is always beautiful but particularly from August to November when the wildflowers are spectacular.

There are many paths to wander through and some are shared with horses. 

The regional park is off Anketell Road, Jandakot.

Alfred Skeet Oval and William Skeet Oval

These two local sporting grounds have many great facilities including children’s playgrounds.

Over the years the area has been upgraded to support the many young families moving into the region.  New facilities include a full-size football oval, cricket nets, soccer and softball pitches.

There are also many lovely reserve walks near both ovals.

You can check out these great sporting facilities at 748 Armadale Road, Forrestdale.

There are several other adult sporting facilities nearby, including the Gosnells Golf Course and The Springs Club in Armadale. Just a 10-minute drive, both offer 18 holes and a clubhouse. And for an indoor playground, Cockburn ARC is just 15 minutes away and is a water and fitness utopia!
